Cyanea is a genus endemic to Hawaii with over 90% of species found only on one island. Many of these species are very rare (>50 individuals). We are working with Land managers in Hawai`i to address a number of genetic concerns that exist for many of these species, including loss of diversity, increasing the likelihood of inbreeding, and in some cases taxonomic ambiguity. For this study we will be using a combination of HybSeq (Next-gen sequencing) technique and microsatellites, to help us address many of these questions.
