Pollinator type and genetic diversity in Clarkia spp. 2022
Lab

Ecology, Genetics, Population Biology, Reproductive Biology, Plant Breeding, Labwork

Are some pollinators better than others? How do differences in pollinators influence the genetic diversity of plant species? Explore these questions this summer using two species of plants found only in California! In this project you will develop an understanding of the importance of genetic diversity, how we measure it, and how pollinators influence it in plant species. More specifically, you will learn how extract DNA from plant tissue and analyze it using computer code. If you’re interested in gaining experience doing lab work and genetic analysis – this is a great project for you!
